Import Files from Trimble Connect

You can explore a Trimble Connect project and import certain applicable file types (.dxf, .tiff, .ttm) from it for use in WorksOS. This feature works for all projects in Connect and WorksOS.

Note: To import a .tiff file with accuracy, it must be WGS84 referenced (in WGS coordinates, not a local site calibration).

Note for TBC users: You can also export files directly from Trimble Business Center to Trimble Connect by clicking the Save File Remotely icon in the Export command pane and then navigating to the appropriate Connect project folder. See Save a File Remotely in the TBC help.

Import data from Trimble Connect

In Trimble Connect

  1. Select Data > Explorer.

  2. If needed, click Add, name the new folder, and click Submit.

  3. Add files to the folder, from software such as Trimble Business Center (TBC).

In WorksOS

  1. Sign in and select the account and project you want to import data into.

  2. At the upper right, select More icon (...) > Imports.

  3. Click Import Files > Browse (next to Trimble Connect).

Note: If you browse a ‘connected project’ (created in Trimble Connect and with the extension enabled), you are taken to the correct region and project folder automatically.

  1. Expand your Trimble Connect region and navigate to the project folder you added files to.

  2. Check the box next to each file you want to import, and click Import. You can multi-select files in the list or click Import All at the bottom of the Multiple File Import pane.
Any files with .dxf, .tiff, or .ttm extensions are shown; previously imported files do not appear.

Note: If applicable, multiple versions (based on time/date stamp) of a file will appear too, enabling you to choose the right one. File versions are only visible when selecting a single file at a time.

  1. In the Import dialog, specify Units, Survey Dates/Times and/or Design file types as needed.

Tip: You may want to note the surveyed dates and times in your field application before you reach this step. It is important to have accurate time/date stamps on your imported data because it can affect calculations, progress volumes, and other timeline-based data.

  1. Click Import. Once imported, refresh your data views.

  2. To confirm the import status at any time, click the Notifications (bell) icon in the top right corner of WorksOS.
