FAQ: Licensing

Question:

Do I have to pay ‘per device’ for WorksOS?

Answer:

No. WorksOS has a user-license based model. This means one or more people within an organization can get WorksOS licenses. Once you/they have the licenses, you/they can monitor multiple projects without paying an additional subscription ‘per device’. As a device comes into a project and reports data, that data is directly associated with the project.

Note: Subscription to Trimble WorksManager is required. Which means the customer does pay a small amount ‘per device’ for connectivity between field and office.

FAQ: Processing TAG files without WorksManager

Question:

I have Trimble Connected Community (TCC), but not WorksManager. Will automatic TAG (.tag) file processing work for me?

Answer:

FAQ: Reasons to Purchase WorksOS

Question:

Why should I buy WorksOS?

Answer:

Top Reasons to Buy

Trimble WorksOS, a cloud-based operating system, integrates data to deliver productivity and real-time progress to plan for site supervisors and project managers to maximize job site efficiency. Trimble WorksOS answers the questions you are asking.

  • Turn your machines into surveyors - Automatically tracks the progression of the work completed using an understanding of the changing ground surface using machine survey data to calculate cut/fill quantities each day relative to an original ground survey.

  • Use machine surveys where surveyors cannot go safely - Machine as-built surface surveys can complement traditional surveys

  • View Machine progress - View how each machine is progressing to design.

  • Invoice quickly and accurately with supporting data included - Send As-Built Surfaces and Cut/Fill maps with invoices

  • Visualize, analyze and export compaction data - Meet and prove your pass count and compaction standards

  • Combine input data - As-built data, surveys, and designs. Check volume quantities from survey or to design.

  • See progress and quality metrics for each area of the project - Calculates working rates for Geofenced areas based on the successive progress calculations as a way to quantity productivity rates.

  • Track exact quantities of expensive imported materials filled and graded - Imported materials such as sand, gravel and aggregate can be filled and graded to design to ensure only the correct amount of material is used

FAQ: Sharing a user license

Will it be possible to share TAG files (.tag) from one account to another in the future, i.e., a subcontractor sharing their work with the main contractor?

Answer:

If the main contractor and subcontractor both have WorksOS licenses, then they will be able to share projects with one another. The existing ‘invite user to project’ mechanism in WorksManager will enable this.

Will WorksOS subscription be ‘per project’?

Answer:

Answer:

Yes and No.

WorksOS shares projects, users ,and devices with WorksManager. If you want automatic processing of production data, you will need WorksManager. This ‘manual’ way does not require you to have a WorksManager subscription.

FAQ: Working with GCS vs. Earthworks

Question:

What things do I need to consider between GCS and Earthworks machines...as far as WorksOS is concerned?

Answer:

For GCS, mapping settings need to be turned on. Earthworks has these on by default. In GCS, it is highly recommended to have additional blade and ground sensors installed and configured. With Earthworks systems, the in-ground blade sensors and settings are already included.
