FAQ: Boundary from .dxf file

Question:

When I create a project in WorksOS, can I upload any .dxf or do I need a specific boundary from Trimble Business Center (TBC)?

Answer:

You can import any .dxf. If the .dxf contains multiple areas, WorksOS will take the ‘first’ boundary as it is stored within the .dxf file.

FAQ: Bringing in VisionLink 3D projects

Question:

I have ‘in progress’ projects within VisionLink 3D. If I switch to WorksOS, will my historical data automatically carry over?

Answer:

No. Their data will not automatically carry over. The Trimble team will have to manually copy over the data for an existing project at the time of initial set up. Once the initial setup is complete, data will continue to automatically flow in during the reminder of the project duration.

FAQ: Creating projects in WorksManager without a .cal file

Question:

Projects are shared between WorksManager and WorksOS. Does this mean that I now cannot create projects in WorksManager without a .cal file?

Answer:

You can continue creating a project in WorksManager without a .cal file. However, if you want production data associated with that project in WorksOS, you will need to change the project type to ‘3D enabled’ and upload a valid .cal file.

FAQ: Error converting project to 3D-Enabled

Question:

Why does WorksOS produces an error when I try to convert my project from 'Non-3D Enabled' to '3D-Enabled', and what can I do about it?

Answer:

The issue may be the coordinate system/calibration file you have used in the existing Non-3D-Enabled project in Trimble WorksManager. Your project coordinate system/calibration files in WorksOS should be the exact same definition as the devices (i.e., machines submitting TAG Files) on the live project. This will ensure data positional accuracy.

FAQ: Same behavior as in VisionLink, e.g., time limit

Question:

Will the archived projects act the way they do now for VL, e.g., you don't have a time limit?

Answer:

Yes. Archived projects will continue to act the way they do for VisionLink. There is no time limit for an archived project.
